Restaurant Review: Barlett's Gourmet Grill & Tavern

In the middle of the beautiful Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore along scenic, winding US Rt. 12, Bartlett's is a true destination restaurant, that is, it is worth going out of your way to dine there.  In truth it is off the beaten track but you will not mind once you are there.  It can get crowded on weekends so pick your time wisely.

I am mainly familiar with Bartlett's for lunch although I have done supper there a few times. Located in the high rent district of Beverly Shores, IN, Bartlett's is not an inexpensive place to eat yet not outrageous either. I think my last lunch, sandwich, cup of chilli and one pint of craft beer ran me over $20 but I enjoyed it, service was good and I have no complaints.  For lunch order the corned beef reuben sandwich and upgrade to the sweet potato fries. I like the chilli in season.  Also you cannot go wrong with the burger.  Everything is no-fooling, gourmet and nicely arranged on the plate which will impress the women.

Bar, Beer and Booze:  There is a nice little bar area, which acts as a holding area when things get busy.  Bartlett's has just about every kind of martini you might want and they know how to make them.  They generally have 5 or more craft beers on tap and a import, craft or domestic bottle beer list a mile long. You will be happy.  I can't swear they have Bass Ale in bottles because I always get distracted by the draft beers, but I suspect they do.

Outdoor dining is available in season. The surroundings are wooded and quiet.
